BOARD OF HEALTH
The Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday March 21, 1990 at 7:30 PM.
The meeting was held in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town & County
Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. All members of the Board were
i present. Chairman Sevren's called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.
Approval of the Minutes of March 14. 1990 at 7:30 PM. Mr. Viera
moved approval; seconded by Mr. Grossman. So voted. Reading of the
Minutes was waived.
Anneal of Revocation of Disposal Works Construction Permit No. 203-
89 at 28 and 30 Gosnold Rd. Mr. Grossman moved continuing this
appeal to April 25, 1990 at 7:30 PM as requested by the applicants
attorney Mr. Theodore Tillotson. Seconded by Mr. McLaughlin. So
voted.
variance Reauest: Board of Health Requlations 60.00 Minimum Lot
Size for Unsewered Lots. Subsection 60.01A: Lot 53. Teasdale
Circle. Mr. Viera read Mr. Ray's letter dated March 16, 1990
recommending denial of the variance sought. Mr. Bill Hayes,
representing the applicant, said Mr. Rosenberg's intent was to move
his dental services and thought there was nothing further required
of him. Mr. Hayes said that the exemption period expired before Mr.
Rosenberg realized it. Mr. Hayes said the applicant currently has
a buyer but that the minimal septage was involved; that there was
no environmental diffuclties with granting the variance. Mr.
Grossman asked if there would be a change in the environmental
situation. Mr. Ray said no, but the applicant just did not do it
in time. Chairman Sevrens asked if all of the other lots have
permits. Mr. Ray said the other lots do. Mr. Grossman suggested
that this shouldn't be a problem as the environment would not be
adversely affected. Mr. Grossman moved granting the variance at the
same time implying no precedent for late applications. Seconded by
Mr. Viera. So voted. Mr. McLaughlin abstained for lack of
information.
Mr. Ray stated that there are two water quality studies: one is on
extensive harbor water quality; the other, a localized study
focusing on the immediate problems of shellfish. Mr. Ray said there
is no confl ict between the Marine Department and the Health
Department.
There being no further business before the Board the Board voted
unanimously to adjourn at 7: 49 PM to reopen as the Board of
Selectmen.
