BOARD OF HEALTH
The Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday December 6, 1989 at 7:30 PM. The
Meeting was held in the Board of Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town and County
Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. All members of the Board were present.
Chairman Sevrens called the meeting to order at 7:59 PM.
Variance Request: Town of Nantucket Semi-Public Swimming Pool. Mr. Viera
read Health Inspector Richard Ray's memo recommending granting the variance
from 105 CMR 435.13: Walkways and Decks as the width difference between
what the walkway was and what it should have been is deemed "diminimus"
by the state. In response to a question from Mr. Michael McHone, Mr. Wayne
Holmes stated that 3 separate variance would have to be obtained for the
walkway: the local Board of Health, the State Board of Health and the Archi-
tectural Access Board. Mr. McLaughlin stated that the architect of the
pchool should be held accountable for the mistake. Mr. Holmes stated that
there was a claim being filed and that the overall issue was to allow the
public to use the pool as quickly as possible. After more discussion, Mr.
~liera moved to grant the variance fromtl05 CMR 435.13 for the High School
~wimming pool. Seconded by Mr. Grossman with reservations. Mr. McLaughlin
Fas opposed to the motion. So voted, 3 votes to 1.

ut-of-State Travel Request: Health Ins ector. Mr. Viera read Mr. Ray's
emo. Mr. Grossman moved approval to request the Finance Committee for
~$900 for Mr. Ray to travel to Orlando, Florida to attend a seminar on drinking
ater and ground water protection from January 21-24, 1990. Seconded by
r. McLaughlin. So voted.
