HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-08-16 II BOARD OF HEALTH The Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday, August 16, 1989 at 7:30 PM. The meeting took place in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town and County Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. All Board members were present. Chairman Sevrens called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Approval of the Minutes of June 28, 1989 at 7:30 PM: Mr. Viera moved for approval; seconded by Ms. Coombs. So voted. Reading of the Minutes was waived. Proposed Amendment to the Food Sanitation Code adopted July 26, 1989: Mr. Viera read Health Inspector Richard Ray's letter and proposed amendment 590.032, (see attached) which would provide for enforcement of unpaid violations. Mr. Bourgoin stated that the Board of Health could enact it now but that the proper practice is to provide public notice. Mr. Ray stated that this is an addendum which streamlines the fine system, stating that now, violators are caught only if they receive a parking violation. Mr. McLaughlin questioned what office the fees would be paid to. Mr. Ray stated that the fining of violators would be coordinated between his office and the Magistrate's Office; the fines would be payable to the Magistrate, then transferred to the Town of Nantucket. Mr. Bourgoin stated that the amendment did make sense, but that public notice should be given. Mr. Ray stated the Board of Health had the right to adopt regulations immediately. Mr. McLaughlin moved approval of the amendment. Ms. Coombs seconded. So voted. There being no further business before the Board, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn at 7:41 PM. ~.
