HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-07-06 OOARD OF HEAL'lH The Minutes of the Meeting of Wednesday, July 6, 1988 at 7:30 p.m. The Meeting took place in the Selectmen's Hearing Room, Town and County Building, Nantucket, Ma. 02554. All members of the Board were present with the exception of Mr. Clute. Chairman Cabot opened the Meeting at 7:31 p.m. Mr. Viera moved approval of the Minutes of April 6, April 20, May 25, and June 29, 1988; seconded by Mrs. Sevrens. It was noted that the reading of the Minutes was waived. So voted. There came before the Board a variance request from Christopher and Virginia Lewis of 52 Tennessee Avenue, Nantucket for repair of a septic system. Mr. Ray gave a favorable recommendation. Mr. McLaughlin inquired as to the distance prior to request and the aftereffect. Mr. Ray replied that the sewer is now 42 ft. and after it is repaired it will be just short of 100 ft. Mr. Viera moved approval; seconded by Mr. McLaughlin. So voted. The Board of Health acting as the Board of Public Works discussed a Design Revie ,Agreement by Weston & Sampson to be paid by Valentine Realty Trust escrow funds. Mr. McLaughlin moved to table said issue for one week to refer to Town Counsel; seconded by Mr. Viera. So voted. Mr. Ray brought before the Board of Health a proposed new fee schedule for permits and licenses issued by the Nantucket Board of Health. Mrs. Sevrens commented I that the increases were substantial. Mr. Ray replied yes, but average in scope I of other communities and that the fees had not been raised in five years. ! Mr. McLaughlin moved to table for one week for public input; seconded by Mr. Vieta. Mrs. Sevrens stood opposed. So voted. I Mr. Ray notified the Board of a young man, Thomas Scott, who would like to provije !. a pump out service in Nantucket Harbor. Mr. Ray gave a favorable recommendation land commented that from his boat, the sewerage would be pumped out into the I. facilities at Sherburne Assoc,iates. Mr. Viera moved approval; seconded by , lilHrs. Sevrens. So voted. IIMr. Ray mentioned that at Mill Hill Park that day, the Rotary Club and the Park 'land Recreation Commission got together with Ecotarian, manufactuer of Damminix, iland distributed tick tubes throughout the entire park. Mr. Ray felt it was !the start of a great public service and that they put out 700 tubes. The Board voted to send a letter to the various supportive groups. I II There being no further business before the Board, Chairman Cabot adjourned the Meeting at 7:51 p.m. to open as the Board of Selectmen.
