The Minutes of October 7, 1987 ~ting
iThe meeting was called to order at 7:30p.m. by Chai:rrna.n Cabot. All members of
the Board were present with the exception of Mr. Clute. Mr. Gardner moved for
the approval of the minutes for the weeks of July 22,1987, August 20,1987, and
September 30,1987. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Sevrens; so voted.
Health Agent, Richard Ray, reviewed State findings by the Department of Labor
and Hygiene in referenceto the presence of asbestos in the Nantucket Town Hall
and Nantucket High School. Mr. Ray stated that the problems are in the pipe
linings in both the Town Building and the High School. The pipe linings will be
removed June 23,1988, with all work to be completed no later than July 15,1988.
Mr. Ray stated that the Town Building and the High School do not have an asbesto
"problem". The pipe linings do not constitute a health hazard.
Mrs. Sevrens announced that copies of the asbestos report were available to the
public at the Board of Selectmen's Office.
