Title Five and Madaket Regulations.
Mr. Ray explained that this was a failed system that needs to be repaired very
quickly. The DEQE agrees with the plan with specific stipulations.
1. The well is tested and found to be chemically and bacteriologically
safe for human consuption.
2. It is not possible to purchase or acquire an easement on adjacent
property where either the new leaching facility or a new well could
be located to meet the requirements of Title 5.
3. There is to be no increase in sewage flow to the repaired subsurface
sewage disposal system.
4. The repaired leaching facility or any future leaching facility will
not be located closer to the existing well than existed between the
failed system and existing wells.
5. A Disposal Works Construction Permit must be obtained fran the Nantu-
cket Board of Health prior to the start of construction.
6. Our approval for the proposed system will be dependent upon the recor
ding in the appropriate registry of deeds or a notice that discloses
the existence of a variance for the sewage disposal system and the
involvement of the Department of Environmental Quality Engineering
in said system.
