Mrs. Sevrens moved approval of the minutes of June, 10, 1987; seconded by Mr. Clute; ~o voted. OOARD OF' HEALTH THE MINlJI'ES OF JUNE 17, 1987 MEETING . ,.',- . . Edward Klein, Director of the Nantucket Camp was present to request the Board f Health reconsider their decision of the previous week to not grant a Variance equest to Nantucket Camp for Requered Toilet Facilities at a Recreational Camp. . Klein, with his counsel Sarah Alger, supplied papers to inform the Board of ,I he great deal of work that he has done to make this camp successful. ~ hairman cabot requested that Health Inspector Richard ray, once again address th! j'ssue. Mr. Ray stated that his original recommendation to not grant the Variance I' I eques t remianed. . Alger stated that she felt that four toilet facilities were quite numerous. first week of the Camp, they only expected 10 children. She stated that it as her belief that thoserequirements ",!"e:re only guidlines, not established egulations. . Ray stated that the requir~nt$ were indeed Massachusetts General Laws and hould be abided. The only time Variances for said regulations have been granted 's for said regulations have been granted for short period of time, for example for a weekend.-There has never been a Variance for toilet facilities regulations or an entire su.mmer. . Ray stated that he stood by his recorrmendation. He felt that it was un- ortunate that the Nantucket. Camp was scheduled in Washinton, D.C. The restrictio s ere only realized when the camp was well into established stage. Board, standing by their decision of the previous Board of Heath meeting, did grant the Variance Request. . Ray was present to update the Board of Health on the recent testing results f the water at the bathing beaches o~ Nantucket. The studies of the Children's d Francis Street Beaches proved that the water is safe to swim in. - ...', . . Children's Beach Pipe is displaying higher than.normal sigh Df colofirn , yet . run-off is going right out into the tide. . Ray informed the BOard that he did not expect any proble.ms with the bathing aches this surrmer.
