HomeMy WebLinkAbout1987-06-10 Board of Health Minutes of the June 10, 1987 Meeting Chairman Cabot brought the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. All members were pres- ent. Mrs. sevrens moved to approve the minutes of May 20.1987. Seconded by Mr. Clute so voted. Mrs. Sevrens read a letter fran Health Inspector, Richard Ray, Mr. Ray recarmen- ded to the Board to approve a Variance Request from Jeffrey Blachwell for Crows nest Way Wauwint-Squam. The property is owned by Ruth Klausmeyer. The Variance is,.for a septic system replacement. Mr. Ray had one stipulation for his recornn- endation. When the new system fails, the leach trenches shall be excavated for a distance of 10 feet in all directions and replaced with clean fill into which a new system shall be installed. Mrs Sevrens asked how long the dwelling had existed. Mr. Ray stated 10-15 years. Mr. Clute moved to approve the Variance Request for septic system for property owner Ruth Klausmeyer, Crowsnest Way, Wauwinet, Squam. Seconded by Mr. Gardner so voted. Mrs. Sevrens read a letter from Health ded to the Board to approve a Variance in Madaket containing three dwelling's of the dwellings. Inspector, Richar Ray. Mr. Ray recarmen- j Request from Jeffrey Blachwell for a lot . and a failed septic system servicing one Mr. Ray explained that there are three cottages on this lot. The three existing leach pits are to bemlDemoved and replaced by one lwach pit capable of servicing all three dwellings. He stated this would be a 100% improvement. Mr. Clute moved approval of the Variance Request from Madaket regulations for property owner Mildred Taylor. Seconded by Mrs. Sevrens. so voted. Mrs. Sevrens read a letter from Richard Ray. Mr. Ray recornnended to the Board to deny a Variance Request for minimum standards for Recrational Camps for Children fran 105 CMR 430:100 Toilet facilities required for Nantucket Camp dir- ected by Edward R. Klein, Jr. due to lack of toilet facilities. Mr. Ray stated that the minimum requirement would be two toilets for each sex regardless of the amount of kids in the camp. Mr. Kein had a representative present for his organization. She stated that Mr. Klien was willing to add more bathroans if needed or to have fewer campers. Mr. Clute moved to deny the Variance Request fran Edward Klein, Jr. due to lack of toilet facilities. Seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted. The Board express their interest in matters of the camp for reasons not pertain- ing to the Board of Health. Mr. Ray informed the Board of a new State Mandate which requires swimning pools opened to the public to be inspected. Mr. Ray asked the Board to set the inspe- ction fee at $50 per pool per year. He also stated that this was the State all- jowed fee. Mr. Clute moved approval of a $50 per pool per year license fee for swimning . ,pools. Seconded by Mrs. Sevrens, so voted. Mr. McLaughlin asked what is done when a pool is inspected. Mr. Ray repied that there is a booklet of requirements and regulations to meet.
