Health Inspector, Richard Ray was also present. ,Mrs. Sevrens read a letter fran Mr. Ray to the Board. The body of the letter, a recoomendation of the Board of Health to the Planning Board, read as follows: CcbbLls~ VI )la.r Following the review of pertinent data and all available site plans, this local board recoomends connection of said major can- mercial development to a sanitary sewer carrying all effluent away fran the p~ect site to a municipal sewer facility. Ra tional: 1. As you are all aware, this property borders the Islands aquifer protection district established to protect the Wyers Valley wells of the Wannacanet Water Canpany which serves a majority of the islands dwellings. The concern here is the total effluent vmich will be discharged into the soils abutting the protection district over an extended period of time, if on site facilities are installed. A structure lltilization review offers a conservative estimate of 3,427 gallons of effluent being discharged per day fran this project, a figure this office feels may result in high nitrate loading of the area soils. To be noted here also, is the planned high density of a relatively small lot. Also of concern here are the ptable water wells of neighboring single family dwellings which may be effected by the increased septage loading of the soils. In surrmary, due to the high density use of the property and the anticipated septage plume fran said development, this office recoomends connection of this Major Coomercial Development to a sanitary sewer. . Gardner stated that Mr. Ray's report was very good. Mr. Ray stated that ther ould be 30 highly developed efficiences. . McLaughlin asked if once the sewer line was put in, would Dakota SUakhouse onnect? . Gardner responded that Dakota Steakhouse was already in. The sewer line from the Nantucket Inn was a holding tank that services also the Car Wash and the Steak House. . Clute moved approval of the connection of this Major Coomercial Development to a saniatry sewer as specifically noted: seconded by Mrs. Sevrens: so voted. . Ray welcaned Tina MacVicar to the Health Department for the sumner. hairman Cabot asked if there had been any inspections of Children's Beach as of et. Mr. Ray stated that inspections of public beaches would commence June 1, 198 . Mr. Ray stated that he felt there would not be any problems on Chil@dren's ach this time. here being no further business, ChairmanCabot moved to adjourn the meeting at :47 p.m. seconded by Mr. Clute: so voted. ~t!fd4: Executive Secretary
