BOARD OF HEALTH
Minutes of the December 10,1986 Meeting
j iThe meeting was called to order by Chairman Cabot at 7: 55 p.m. All members
were present. Mrs. Sevrens moved approval of the minutes of December 3, 1986
!meeting; seconded by Mr. Grossman.
!Inspector of Health, Richard L. Ray recommended that the Board approve a
Ivariance request to Richard Mathews of DeWolf Avenue in Monomoy. The Variance
[request from Title V-310 CMR 15.02 (22) Reserve Area and from 310 CMR 15.03 (7)
Distances would allow the proper placement of a septic system in the south
corner of the owners lot rather than north of the five bedroom dwelling in an
effort to not contamnate beach area. Due to area limitations, a 100% expansion
area can not be provided (hence Variance request 15.02 (22) and the pits must
!be placed four feet fron the property line instead of the required ten feet
l(henCe variance request 15.03 (7)) Mr. Clute moved to approve said variance
/request: seconded by Mr. Grossman; so voted.
In other business Mr. Gardner informed the inspector of Health that foundation
cellars on Old South Road were filling with water and could cause problems when
they froze because children play around them. Mr. Ray said that he would look
into the problem.
Mr. Ray also stated that on Road area theneis a high nitrate Itvel in
the drinking water due to an old animal farm that used to be located in the
area. There is only one residence that is affected. Other houses have an above
normal nitrate level, yet the water is safe. Mr. Ray noted that there is no
way to rid the area of nitrates.
There being no further business before the Board of Health, Chairman Cabot moved:
to adjourn the meeting at 7:59 p.m.
