All rrernbers were present except for Selecb:nan Harry E. Clute. Skip Cabot IIDVed to approve the October 16, 1985 meeting minutes, seconded by Bernard Grossman, so voted. OFFICIAL BUSINESS Review of Austin Fanns Subdivision Recamnendaticm: Letter fran Health Inspector Richard Ray offering the following: All lots are acceptable for septic system design with two stiplations: a) Due to documented high nitrates in the area, all systEmS should be of the leach trench configuration in order to lessen nitrate impact on the ground water, b) also in support of trench systems, is the documented and anticipated high groond water on sane lots. and 2. All wells should be tested by the develoPer prior to occupancy of any structures on each lot, and the CMner of the lot and structure and the Health Department notifieid of its content. and due to the documented health I risks of salt, this officer strongly advises that any well water with a sodi1.lll1j count aver 20 parts Per million be declared non-potable water. and 3. All . lots must be re-perced in the presence of the Health Agent or his designee wheh more deinitive dwelling locations are selected." ; Mr. Ray added that this had not been discussed with the applicant as it is not custana.ry to do so. Review of Variance Request: Gary Knight: Letter fran Richard Ray recarrnending granting a variancefor 7 Tautemo Way, HUITlIDck Pond, for the following reasons: I " 1. The Septic tank. is a sealed concrete valut offering no health threat to ~ proposed structure or its inhabitants, and 2. Due to existing grades, the ! potential for leachate to travel in the direction of the proposed structure is impossible." I I I II II Mr. Ray asked about where to dump scallop shells. The Board said until the season starts all scallop shells must go to the dump. Jetties Beach is off-limits due to the high temperatures this fall. Question alxlUt Miacaret Pond . and a letter implying there was no perculation testing performed. Mr. Ray explained that the systems were all legal and an engineer's stamp was on all tests.
