Board of Health meeting commenced at 7:30 p.m. All members were present.
Minutes of August 15, 1984 were accepted as typed and reading of the same
waived on a motion from Skip Cabot, seconded by Bud Clute, so voted.
Progress Report on Water Quality at Bathing Beaches: Selectman Cabot read
a letter from Sheaffer and Roland on the status of Pollution a Children's
Beach. He reported that test sampling continues at Children's Beach area
and test results confirm that sewage contamination is in the Lily Pond
Drain. The lower end of Lily Pond Drain from Beach Street to Brandt Point
is currently in the process of being cleaned. There is no apparent source
of pollution from the upper end of the drainage system, nor in the lower section
for the East Lincoln/Walsh Street drain. They recommended the continued
isolation of this line-the line from the outfall at Chidlren's Beach until it
is replaced with a new storm drain this fall.
Mr. Ray confirmed that the main problem appears to be the Lily Pond Drain.
He said they have isolated the problem and it will be fixed. He said that
II Children I s Beach has been wi thin State Reguations for a while and recommended
I opening the Beach. He said Francis Street will be the next problem they will
II tackle.
