Ray noting that all lots off Ilsurfside Boulevarde are acceptable for septic system designs. Iii... Bud Clute moved approval based on Mr. Ray's recommendation, seconded by iSkip Cabot, so voted. The Board will notify the Planning Board of vote. Ii III Water Quality at Bathing Beaches: Richard Ray reported that both Children I s i and Francis Street Beaches have been ordered closed to swimming due to high iicoliform counts. He reported to the Board that they have been investigating lithe problem. There are the least number of boats in the harbor and with I the way the wind is blowing it is most definitely not the boats causing the II problem. It appears to be a run off problem after the heavy rains. He added Ilthat some of the sewers are tied into the storm drains. He said he had I Iii enlisted Fred Roland to t.v. drains, but it is expensive and time consuming. I,The Board asked Mr. Ray if he had received any assistance from the State to Ii which Richard replied that he had not. II IIMr. Oliver explained that they are going to dye test near Harbor View Way lito try and isolate the problem. This also takes time. It was discussed that I much of the problem could be with the Lilly Pond drain. There are many pipes !I going into the drain, but only one coming out. Need to look into connections Ii to that drain pipe. II IIMr. Blair said his cellar still floods with sewage. He reminded the Board of ,'a vote . many years ago which fined anyone who was connected into the drain. II . hb f . , I!Nelg ors 0 the Chlldren s Beach area were present to ask the Board to make I this a top priority item~ They asked why the Town was not policing the II boats in the harbor more regularly. Mr. Ray said they do not have the manpower II to police anymore than they are already. .1 liThe Board suggested that the Coast Guard help the Town to inspect boats. jlMr. Ray said their manpower is down also. !Jack Gardner then moved to request the Coast Guard to inspect, seconded by il Bud Clute, so voted. IIMr. Grossman suggested writing to the Governor and to the Secretary of 11 Public Health for their assistance in this important public health problem. I Mr. Grossman said the Board could call an emergency meeting if there are I any answers tomorrow on where the Town should go. Suggested 4:00 p.m. ill,l There was some discussion about recent drainage problems which were attributed . to sand in the drains and new curbs which restrict the flow of water running Ii off to the Bird Sanctuary. Fred Roland said he would be looking at all the II drains in the area. The Board ended by saying they would explore every avenue Ii possible to try and resolve the problem as soon as possible. I: I I II II Ii Ii Bud Clute moved to approve Mr. Ray's recommendation, seconded by Nancy Sevrens, Ii so voted. Madaket Regulations Variance: A letter from Carl Borchert on behalf of his client, Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood of Madaket requesting a variance from the Madaket Regulations for relocating their well. Mr. Ray explained that this is an emergency request which was not new to Madaket. Normally it is the septic system, however, in this case the well has failed. Mr. Ray recommended granting the variance. Being no further business of the Board of Health, Bud Clute moved to adjourn at 8:00 p.m., seconded by Skip Cabot, so voted.
