Tre meeting of the Board of Health ccmnenced at 7:30 p.m. Tre minutes of
Hay 9, 1984 \\ere accepted as typed and reading of the same was waived on

A etter was rred fran the BreIt. Inspector Richard L. Hay re:rardmg this
application for a variance fran 310 CMR 15.15 (3) sanitation standards for
subsurface disposal of s:mitary rewage. This code mandates a four-foot
separation between tre leach bed and ground water. Only 3.3 feet are
available here, IDwever, due to proximity to tre pond and its low ground
water.
Mr. Ray recamnended to HE Board Hat trey grant a variance, since, "this
is an existing dwelling with an antiquated failed systen." IE added Hat
locating t'bis systEm on any other area of the lot is prohibited by amtters'
well locations. In the event tre Selectmen grant approval tre following
conditions sIDuld be rEquired:
1. Tte relocation of the subject lot's well must be canpleted prior to
the iSSlance of the septic installation pennit;
2. The relocated well must l:::e tested annually with results subnitted
to this office; and,
3. '!.'he design of the leach facility srould not exceed 350 gallons Per
day.

Jack Gardner moved to approve the recarmendations fran the I-ealth Inspector,
seconded by Bld Clute, ro voted.
variance Reque st: Madaket:
Hr. Ray gave an oral report on a request fran Mr. Rotert Leichter for a
variance for a new system in Madaket. :FE explained that it was necessary
to rave DEQE approval Which haLl been given over the prone. It is an
emergency s ituat ion Mr. Ray explained W:'1ich needs to l:::e taken care of
:immediately. Hr. Ray said it meets with his approval, rut that it is
necessary to receive Board's approval before he can go ahead.
Jack Gardner moved to accept the recamnendation fran tre Health Officer,
subject to approval ~ the DEQE, seconded by Skip Cal::x:>t, so voted.
