Request for Rel ief from Pervious Board Vote: Wauwinet House Inn: Letter from Robert B. Bowman requesting the the Wauwinet House be allowed to open and operate at fifty percent occupancy "due to seasonal nature of our business" and in order lito attempt to meet the financial obligations incurred by the installation of (a new septic) system.'1 Health Inspector Richard Ray recommended that the request be denied on the grounds that they had not completed the necessary work to reopen as was mandated in September, 1912. Mr. Bowman said he had ordered all the parts but they had not arrived on island yet. He included a report from Camp Dresser and McGee the engineers for the project to show he was acting in good faith. And that he was moving a head wi t h the proj ect. Mr. Grossman asked if one half of the system had been installen.to which Mr. Bowman repl ied that it hadn't. Should be -in by Friday of this week. Mr. Grossman said he \~uld agree to applying for half occupancy after half had been initalled. It was a short season and Mr. Bowman would need to make some sort of investment on the business. Possibly if he operating within a certain timeframe with inspections at his expense, and has a successful inspection on 50% of the septic system. Health Inspector Ray agreed that Mr. Bowman could run half the hotel on half a system, but was against granting him a permit. Fear that Mr. Bowman could try to go to 3/4 full. Letter was too vague. Mr. Clute was opposed to any extension. He was told as early as April 1982 to have it fixed. Mr. Grossman moved to approve 50% occupancy subject to successful inspection of 50% septic system by Health Inspector, weekly inspections at least - thereafter by Health Inspector (at Mr. Bowman's expense), 30 days to get 100% of the system injtalled and approved by Health Inspector. Failure to meet any of these \\Ould lead to immediate action by Mr. Richard Ray. This was seconded by Jack Gardner, so voted. Mr. Holdgate reminded Mr. Bowman that Mr. Ray would handle any violations. Mr. Gardner said he better stick to his side of the bargain and not put the Selectmen in a bind to which Mr. Bowman agreed. Skip Cabot moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. , seconded by Jack Gardner, so voted. BOARD OF HEALTH /~ /?~/J~ ~~~l~ga(~', J7 j// Chairman
