HomeMy WebLinkAbout1983-03-02 'I BOARD OF HEALTH Minutes of March 2, 1983 Meeting Meeting commenced at 7:30 p.m. All members of the Board were present. Mr. Grossman moved to approve the minutes of the February 9th and 10th meeting as typed and waived reading of the same. Seconded by Bud Clute, so voted. Inspection Report: 121 Orange Street, John Bernard, owner: Letter from Richard Ray, Health Inspector, together with a report of his February 25th inspection of the property, was read by Bernard Grossman. Mr. Ray recommended a March 9, 1983 publ ic hearing at 2:00 p.m. on the results of that inspection lIin order that proper notification may be sent to Mr. Bernard" and to lIuse this additional week to exhaust all possibilities for alternate housing should the property be declared unfit for human habitation.1I Bud Clute moved that Inspector Ray's request for a March 9th hearing be approved, seconded by Mr. Cabot, so voted. Report of PCB's at Navy Base: Richard Ray also brought before the Board the results of the tests done by the New England Testing Laboratories, Inc. which analyzed the quantity and quality of polychlorinated biphenyls at the Navy Base. He reported that the transformers have a much lower count of PCB's than previously suggested, and, therefore, can be salvaged. Bernard Grossman moved that the Board amend their recommendation to the Fin Com on the 1983 Annual Town Warrant Article 61 requesting funds for the removal of hazardous wastes from the former Navy Base from thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) to five thousand dollars ($5,000).
