HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-06-16 II BOARD OF HEALTH Minutes of Meeting of June 16, 1982 This Board of Health Meeting commenced at 8:45 PM after a lenghtly session as County Commissioners. Chairman Holdgate presided. All members were present. Minutes of the meeting of June 9, 1982 were accepted as typed and reading of the same was waived on motion by Mr. Grossman, seconded by Mr. Clute, so voted. Two Lot Subdivision off polpis Road on Nantucket Harbor: Florence Clifford, OWner: Letter from Health Inspector Richard Ray read wherein he notes the following observations: (a) Both lots are acceptable for septic system design (b) due to ground water encountered at a depth of eight feet, leach trenches should be used (c) property owner(s} must be aware of their responsibilities in respect to the Wetlands Protection Act as the properties abut the harbor and a salt marsh. Mr. Gardner motioned that the Health Inspectors recommendations be accepted, secondec by Mr. Clute, so voted. Mr. Grossman asked that Notification to the Conservation Commission be affirmed. 'ariance Re uest: Madaket Road (Redgate at second bridge): Alan Newhouse, OWner: ,etter from Health Inspector Richard Ray recommending that the Board grant this ~ariance from 310 CMR 15.03 (f) was read. Mr. Ray advised that this cited regula- ~ion requires a minimum of four feet between the bottom of a leach facility and grour ~ater. There is only 2.95 feet available at the instant lot. Chairman Holdgate ~sked if this was an upgrading of the system. Mr. Ray replied absolutely. Mr. Clute ffotioned that this Variance Request be granted, seconded by Mr. Grossman, so votef. >>r. Grossman addressed meeting as to the Article for the Warrant of the Special i ~own Meeting to be held Monday, June 28, concerning Daycare of Children in Nantucfet. ~e noted that Health Inspector Richard Ray has sent a request to Boston and Lakev~llE 'ffices of the "Office for Children" asking that they hold a Public Hearing on ' antucket before enforcing the existing statutory requirements as to Daycare in rivate Homes. The Office for Children has yet to reply to this request. Mr. rossman motioned that a committee of about 15 citizens be established under Town uspicesi to make a proper study of the situation on Nantucket, seconded by Mr. lute, so voted. ~ r. Ray addressed Board and said he thought that as the State does have existing , egulations, he is not so sure we will make a lot of headway but thinks a committee ! viable answer at this time, maybe they can come up with some alternatives. : hannel 3 reporter, Ellen Powers, addressed Board and asked if they were going to : eek interested applicants to the Committee. Mr. Grossman replied that 15 citizens ave already made themselves known so that won't be necessary. , here being no further business before the Board of Health, a motion to adjourn t 8:55 Pm was made by Mr. Gardner, seconded by Mr. Clute, so voted.
