HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-09-10 II BOARD OF HEALTH September 10, 1981 Meeting Minutes The regular meeting of the Board of Health was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by Chairman Holdgate. All members were present except Selectman Donald 01 iver. I The Minutes of the Meeting of August 26, 1981 were accepted as typed. I I 66 Orange Street: The Board met to consider what progress has been made in repairing the condemned structure at 66 Orange Street. Jack Gardner read a let-, ter from the Nantucket Building Co., Polpis Road, Nantucket, by Mr. Bruce Poor . Ilstating that he anticipated taking complete restoration to that dwell ing will take place. Mr. Poor also enclosed a copy of Mr. Robert J. Leichter's, ,Professional Engineer, personal review and inspection of that swell ing. Mr. ILeichter stated in his letter that the structure's "intergrity can be re-establ i hed IHe stated that "shoring and other work should be undertaken immediately with 'experienced personnel and with extreme caution to minimize the risk of further degredation or collapse. With the proper supervision and safety measures the work could be completed without endagering the adjacent properties." i Bruce Poor stated that the title was still in probate court and Ithat they would pass the agreement as soon as they can. For this reson, he is !asking for an extension from September 10, 1981 to October 15, 1981 to begin Istructural repairs to the house. I Norman Chaleki stated that he believed the terms of the Board's August 10 Ivote was to have evidence that the structure "does not pose any threat to linhabitants or surrounding properties." ! Jack Gardner read the report of Robert Leichter. I Norman Chaleki stated that the report was vague and requested that a more Idetailed report be submitted by Mr. Leichter before the Board vote to grant Mr. i !Poor's request. He wants to be sure that the building is able to remain standing luntil October 15, 1981, and he wants the engineer to say that he becomes i. responsible for anything that happens because of the building. ! i Bernard Grossman asked Mr. Poor if the property was insured. Mr. Poor stat4d 'I 'that it was sti 11 insured by the owner with 1 iabi 1 ity. I Bernard Grossman moved that an extension be made for a decision until Wed- ,nesday, September 16, 1981. I Jack Gardner seconded the motion. So voted.
