BOARD OF HEALTH
Minutes of Meeting of January '1, 1981
! This regularly scheduled Board of Health Meeting commenced at 7:33 PM. Selectmen
II Young, Gardner and Oliver, Chairman Holdgate, were present. Selectman Knott
was absent.
Minutes of the Meeting of December 30, 1980 were accepted as typed and reading
of the same was waived on motion by Mr. Young, seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted
3~0.
Letter from Health Inspector Richard Ray read wherein he advises Board that it
has been the practice in the past to forward all bills incurred in the transport -
tion of individuals for psychiatric evaluation facilities to the Health Inspecto s
office for payment out of his transportation Line Item in his budget. The actual
detainment or arrest of these individuals is controlled by the local police
department and it is their officers that accompany the individuals to the design -
ted facility and then the officers return on a regularly scheduled flight to the
Island. The first indication of this transportation cost is made known to the
Health Inspector's Office when the bill is received. The Health Inspector cannot
make account for this cost by his own actions. As this is a situation that the
Health Inspector has no control over, he asks that the Selectmen/Board of Health
support his request that thise be transferred to the Police Department for
inclusion in their FY 1981-82 Budget. The Annual Cost is approximately $600 to
$700.00. Chief Hunter addressed Board and said he foresaw no problem with this.
Mr. Oliver motioned that a letter be sent to FINCOM asking them to put this in
the Police Department Budget, seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted 3-0.
There being no further business before the Board of Health, a motion to adjourn at
7:43 PM was made by Mr. Young, seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted 3-0.
