BOARD OF HEALTH
Minutes of Meeting of March 26, 1980
o
The Board of Health Meeting commenced at 7:40 PM after a brief session as Count
Commissioners. All members were present except Mr. Young who was at the SHAB Mee in
Minutes of the Board of Health Meeting of March 12, 1980 were accepted as typed
on motion by Mr. Holdgate, seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted 3-0.
PROPOSED SUB-DIVISION/HEATHER HILLS/HUMMOCK POND ROAD: Health Officer Ricbard
Ray's recommendation as to this proposed eleven (ll) lot Sub-division referred t
as HEATHER HILLS were read wherein he recommends that Lots 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48
are suitable for septic system design (trenches) without modifcation. Although
Lots 46, 47 and 48 have an existing clay layer it does not rise above the 80"
depth (616") which would satisfy Title Five's pre-requisites covering trench use
Lots 41,42, 43, 49 and 50 and 51 are acceptable for septic system design with th
following stipulations: due to shallow clay layer (average 54" deep) these syste s
will require excavation of ten feet on all sides of the trench area and should
be replaced by clean permiable material. Mr. Rayls also recommends re-perculati n
and deep hole tests be performed when more definitive house locations are sub-
mitted. This would be particularly useful on Lots 41,42,43,49,50 and ~l as it ma
be possible to place the system out of the clay band. t
Mr. Holdgate motioned that the recommendations of the Health Officer be accepted
seconded by Mr. Knott, ~voted 3-0.

PROPOSED SUB-DIVISION/RIDLEY WATTS/OFF EEL POINT ROAD: Health Officer Richard
Ray's recommendations as to this proposed six (6) lot sub-division were read
wherein he recommends that Lots 1, 2,4 and 5 are acceptable for septic system
design without stipulations. Lot 3 is suitable for trench installation with
current perculation data. A trench must be used on this lot because of the high
ground water table demonstrated (perc results for Lot 3 in his office). Lot 6
is unacceptable for septic system design due to the fact that the lot os entirel
composed of beach sand and sand dune. This is an unstable soil condition and
should not be subjected to the excavation required to install a leach facility,
also due to the continually shifting nature of beach sand, the actual life of
a system, once installed, would also be in question.
Mr. Knott motioned that the recommendations of the Health Officer be accepted,
seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted 3-0.
There being no further business before the Board of Health, a motion to adjourn
was made by Mr. Knott, seonded by Mr. Gardner, so voted at 7:47 PM.
