PROPOSED SUB~DIVISION- Richard and Grace Coffin Off Pol is Road. Report by
ea t nspector lC ard Ray read whereln he recommen e the fo owing for this
proposed four lot sub-division as presented by Michael S. Bachman, R.L.S.: Lot 1
This lot is acceptable for septic system design with the following stipulations.
Any form of State approved leach facility is approveable on this lot with the
removal of a four foot wide band of clay encountered at the two to six foot leve
beneath the existing grade. Th1s clay layer must be removed for a distance of
ten feet from all sides of theleach facility. Lot 2. This lot is acceptable for
septic system design with the following stipulations. Any fonn of State approved
leach facility is approvable on this lot with the removal of a five foot wide ba d
of clay encountered at the one to six foot level beneath the existing grade. Thi
clay layer must be remived for a distance of ten feet from all sides of the leac
facility. Lot 3. This lot is acceptable for septic system design with the follow ng
A clay layer was found to exist, starting seven feet from the existing grade and
extending to an undeterminable depth. As excavation of this clay layer would be
impractical due to its depth of origin and undeterminable tennination, I would
suggest that a le~ch field or trench be installed on this lot. Lot 4. No perc
test or deep hole tests were performed on this lota~it already has a dwelling a d
functioning septic system installed. Further, all lots are suitable for septic
system design with the above mentioned stipulations. All lots should be re-percu atl
when more definitive house locations are submitted to this office.
Mr. Holdgate motioned that the recommendations of the Health Officer be accepted
seconded by Mr. Knott, so voted 3-0.
PROPOSED SUB-DIVISION - William Foss, Squam Road, Nantucket. Report by Health
Inspector Richard Ray read wherein he recommended the following for this propose
four lot sub-division as presented by John J. Shugrue. Perculation and deep hole
tests were not performed on Lots 1 and 2 as these lots have existing dwellings
with working sub-surface sewerage disposal systems. Lot 3 is acceptable for sep.c
system design. This office would, however, stipulate a leach field be installed
as opposed to a leach pit because of the high ground water table (7 feet) found
on this site. Lot 4 is acceptable for septic system design with two stipulations
as follows: (a) leach trenches should be used sue to a high ground water table
( 8 feet) and (b) because of an existing clay layer, one foot through three fee
deep, this impervious material must be excavated to a distance of ten feet from
all sides of the leach trench or field and replaced with clean, packed fill mat r.
Both lots are acceptable for septic system design with the previously mentioned
stipulations.
Mr. Holdgate motioned that the recommendations of the Health Officer be accepte ,
seconded by Mr. Young, so voted 3-0.

~ it has an exterior dwelling (perc. test perfonned 1-4-79) on the lot. Lots 3, 5

this location as there is a high ground water table (ground water found at 7.0
feet below grade). All lots should be re-perced when more definitive house
locations are chosen.
