HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-11-28 BOARD OF HEALTH Minutes of Meeting of November 28, 1979 c A regular meeting of the Board of Health convened at 7:45 P.M. after a brief session of County Commissioners. All members were present. Board of Health Minutes of meeting of November 14, 1979, were approved on a motion by Mr. Young, seconded by Mr. Knott, so voted 4-0. SUBDIVISION - MARY ANN EGAN/OFF NOBADEER FARM ROAD: Letter of recomendations fro Health Officer Richard Ray regarding Mary Ann Egan's proposed five lot subdivisi n was read wherein Mr. Ray commented that all lots are suitable for septic system design and offer no health hazards. He also recommended that all lots be re-perc la- ted when definative building sites are determined on each lot. Motion that the recommendations of the Health Officer be accepted was made by Mr. Ho1dgate, seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted 4-0. SUBDIVISION - JEANNE HAFFENREFFER/SOUTH OF WARRENS LANDING ROAD: Letter of recommendations from Health Officer Richard Ray regarding this proposed two lot subdivision was read. Mr. Ray commented that (1) all lots were staked and identifiable; (2) all percu1ation data has been received and is on file in this office; (3) these lots, although large in area, do present a problem to septic system design. On both lots, ground water was encountered at a depth of seven feet. This would necessitate the use of leech trenches, leach fields, or mounded systems on each lot; (4) other than that listed in item 3 of this report, I fors e no other problems with septic system design. However, I would recommend that the lots be re-pierced in perhaps a more suitable location when definitive house 10c - tions are presented. Mr. Ho1dgate motioned that the recommendations of the Health Officer be accepted, seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted 4-0. SUBDIVISION - THEODORE L. CROSS/OFF MASSASOIT ROAD, MADAKET: Letter of recommen a- tions from Health Officer Richard Ray regarding this proposed four lot minor subdivision of Lot 10 off Massasoit Road, Madaket, was read. Mr. Ray commented that all lots are suitable for septic system design and with certain precautions will offer no health hazards. He suggested that the following precautions be not d: (1) All lots should be re-pierved when a definitive house location has been determined; (2) there is adequate room on each lot to locate the septic systems near the Southern property lines on each lot. This would keep the systems from encroaching on the wetlands as well as keeping them away from the flood hazard district (10 foot contour line). Mr. Ho1dgate motioned that the recommendations of the Health Officer be accepted, seconded by Mr. Young, so voted 4-0. o NANTUCKET HARBOR WATER UALITY PROGRAM: Health Officer Richard Ray's reply to r. . . uggln setter as requested by the Board, regarding pollution of lower N~ntucket Ha~bor,.read wherein Mr. Ray outlined his program that began 1a t summer ln co~peratlon wlth the Nantucket Boat Basin&Mr. David Burden (graduate studen~ worklng out of University of Mass. Mr. Ho1dgate motion that the aforementioned reply be forwarded to Mr. Huggins and a copy to the "Inquirer and Mirror", seconded by Mr. Young, so voted 4-0. 1 There being no further business before the Board, Mr. Young motioned that the B of Health Meeting be adjourned at 7:55 P.M., seconded by Mr. Gardner, so voted ~~- G.
