BOARD OF HEALTH
MINUTES OF THE HEErING OF FEBRUARY 21, 1973
II SUBDIVISION
ilBoard denied approval of subdivision plan of Gilbert Verney on the basis of
the area having been checked out by the D.P.W. and a report that tests (percolat.on:
must be made for each lot prior to permission being granted.
PERCOLATION TESTS
Board approved request of Arthur Butler that he be allowed to perform percolatio
tests.
SANITARY CODE
Mr. Jones and Gary Hess gave the Board a detailed account of their meeting on
February 23, 1973 with Mr. 'Epple also present, with Hr. Paul Anderson, the
district sanitary engineer, concerning many problems in the application of
the State sanitary Code, particularly Article XI. Mr. Anderson offered many
valuable suggestions for the Board of Health to consider and stated he would
be available for assistance as needed. Mr. Hess read a list of the points
discussed and left the papers with the Board to be studied further, ~nth more
information on the items forthcoming next week.

There was no objection to the request of Attorney Mooney on behalf of the
Cemetery Association to the acquisition of land for cemetery use. Marie Giffin
and Mr. Trimpi, two of the abutters, offered no objections. Mrs. Hartig m~de
the suggestion that consideration should be given to leveling the IlS" curve in
the area, as visibility is'impaired. Board signed the necessary papers which
would approve the location, SO this item can be acted on at special to~m meeting
SANIT ARY. LANDFILL _QOt>1MITTEE
Board received an oral report and literature from the Sanitary Landfill Committe
regarding their trip in December to New Caanan, Conn. to inspect an incinerator
there with the idea of utilizing something ~imilar for Nantucket. The report
indicated satisfaction with the incinerator, but it was felt more study had to
be done before any decisions could be made and the Committee agreed to pursue
this, particularly with adapting any equipment of this nature to Nantucket's
needs.
"'ELL DRILLERS
Copy of letter from Henry Kehlenbeck to Representative Desrocher, dated 2/20/73,
regarding well drillers and water quality research. It was requested that
the Water Resources Department require well diggers to report to the state on
the form ~lhich is necessary for them to submit upon completion of a job.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
