The meeting took place in the Land Bank Conference Room, 22 Broad Street, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present were Douglas Bennett, Whiting Willauer, Michael Glowacki and Brian Chadwick. Bruce Watts was absent. Chairman Glowacki called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM. Public Hearing to Consider Public Assembly Permit Application of Nantucket Boys & Girls Club for Summer Concert Scheduled for August 20,2005 at 61 Sparks Avenue. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone in favor of the application to speak; Greg McKecknie, representing the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club, did so. Chairman Glowacki invited board comments, but there were none. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone opposed to the application to speak. There being no one, Chairman Glowacki closed the public hearing. Mr. Chadwick moved to approve the application; Mr. Bennett seconded. So voted unanimously. Public Hearing to Consider Application for Automatic Amusement Devices License of EGB Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a The Rose & Crown at 23 South Water Street. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone in favor of the application to speak; Rose & Crown manager Rick Ulmer did so. Chairman Glowacki invited board comments, but there were none. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone opposed to the application to speak. There being no one, Chairman Glowacki closed the public hearing. Mr. Bennett moved to approve the application; Mr. Chadwick seconded. So voted unanimously. Public Hearing to Consider Citizen Request for Sewer Connection to the Existing Privately Owned Main at Dukes Road for the Property Located at 23 Dukes Road. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone in favor of the request to speak; Nantucket Housing Office Associate Director Leedara Zola did so. Chairman Glowacki invited board comments. Discussion followed including the contingency of acquiring approval of the owner of the private sewer line. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone opposed to the application to speak. There being no one, Chairman Glowacki closed the public hearing. Mr. Bennett moved to approve the application; Mr. Chadwick seconded. So voted unanimously. Public Hearing to Consider Request of Craig Sperry for Sanitary Sewer Variance for Property Located at 52 Cato Lane. Chairman Glowacki noted the withdrawal of the request, no longer required, by attorney Bert Johnson for his client. Chairman Glowacki closed the public hearing and the Board took no action. Public Hearing to Consider Nantucket Electric Petition # 01-05 to Relocate Fifteen Utility Poles along Fairgrounds Road. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone in favor of the petition to speak; Dave Fredericks of the Nantucket Electric Company and Planning Director Andrew Vorce did so. Chairman Glowacki invited board comments. Discussion followed. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone opposed to the application to speak. Island residents Sam Daniel, Charles Hughes, and Mike Wodenski raised questions. Chairman Glowacki noted that there has been a series of public hearings held on the Fairgrounds Road Bicycle Path. Mr. Vorce and Mr. Fredericks addressed inquiries and spoke further in support of favorable consideration of the petition to allow the bike path project to move forward. Chairman Glowacki closed the public hearing. Mr. Chadwick moved that the Board of Selectmen adopt the order for joint pole relocation of Plan # 01-05 for poles 2-16 along Fairgrounds Road. Mr. Willauer seconded. So voted unanimously. Public Hearing to Consider Traffic Safety Advisory Committee Recommendation Regarding Centre Street in Siasconset. Chairman Glowacki invited anyone in favor of the recommendation of making Centre Street one way from Main Street to the Sconset Pump and shifting on-street parking to the west side of Centre Street to speak. Sconset Civic Association member Susan Whitlock gave background information and spoke in support of making the section one way, noting that the parking question was secondary. Sconset residents Sheila Todd and Pamela Swain made similar comments, noting they were against parking on the west side of the street. Sconset resident Sam Daniel commented on this as well. Chairman Glowacki invited board comments. There being none, Chairman Glowacki closed the public hearing. Mr. Chadwick moved that the Board approve making Centre Street in Sconset one way from Main Street to the Sconset pump. Mr. Willauer seconded. So voted unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 4:40 PM.
