HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-01-31 BOARD OF SELECTMEN Minutes of the Meeting of 31 January 2006 at 4:00 PM. The joint meeting with the Finance Committee took place in the Nantucket High School Cafeteria, 10 Surfside Road, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present were Brian Chadwick, Michael Glowacki and Whiting Willauer. Doug Bennett and Bruce Watts were absent. Chairman Glowacki called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM. Review of Sewer District Articles for 2006 Annual Town Meetinq. Department of Public Works Director Jeff Willett addressed the Town article regarding corrections and additions to established sewer districts and then reviewed the citizen articles in turn. He noted that he had no objection to the two Monomoy articles in light of the relationship to protecting the harbor and residents Billy Willet and Lynn Zimmerman spoke in support of these. Chairman Glowacki indicated "surprise at Town staff recommendation" for support of changes to the sewer district and noted the need to consider sewer district definitions and history of Nantucket Land Council advocacy. Discussion followed on the possibility of reviewing additional maps, the need for philosophy on how to treat sewer requests now and in the future, Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan (CWMP) needs areas, and specifications provided for sewer construction projects. Mr. Willett gave a brief update on the drainage works improvement, noting details about the catch basin location. Finance Committee member Michael Rosen, as a creeks abutter, recused himself from the discussion on the collection system. Town Administrator Libby Gibson advised the Board and Finance Committee that the "Drainage Outfall Evaluation/January 2005" report and presentation by Earth Tech are available for review. Mr. Willett then reviewed the status of Phase I and II of the Infiltration/Inflow project. The meeting adjourned at 5:25 PM. Approved the 8th day of February 2006.
