BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Minutes of the Meeting of 20 March 2006 at 10:00 AM. The meeting took place in the Conference
Room, Town and County Building, Nantucket, MA 02554. Members of the Board present were
Brian Chadwick, Michael Glowacki, Bruce Watts and Whiting Willauer. Douglas Bennett was
absent. Chairman Glowacki called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.
Selectmen Reports/Comments.
1. Review of Selectmen's Recommendations for 2006 Annual Town Meetinq Warrant Articles.
Chairman Glowacki introduced the matter and suggested that the Board's findings be based on
consideration of the existing Planning Commission comprehensive community plan or the pending
Planning Board master plan; on established goals, policies or priorities; or on whether they provide
a means for policy development direction to boards, commissions, committees from Town Meeting.
The Board discussed articles in sequence according to members' previously indicated interests
beginning with its support, or lack thereof, of the Finance Committee's recommendations for Article
8 (Appropriation: Fiscal Year 2007 Operating Budget) and Article 12 (Appropriation: Enterprise
Fund Operations). The Chairman will provide draft recommendations for the Board's consideration
on March 22nd.
Chairman Glowacki abstained from discussion on Article 26 (Appropriation: Broadcast of Meetings
of Local Boards and Commissions), Article 46 (Zoning Bylaw Amendment: Duplex Ownership),
Article 77 (Real Estate Acquisition: 96 Washington Street) and Article 78 (Real Estate Acquisition:
96 Washington Street). Mr. Chadwick chaired those discussions, and agreed to draft
recommendations for the Board's consideration on 3/22. Mr. Chadwick abstained from discussion
on Article 35 (Zoning Map Change: South Shore Road, Blueberrry Lane).
Selectmen noted concerns about various articles, with further discussion to follow at the March
22nd meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 12:20 PM.
