Holmes were present. In the matter of the petition of Harold and Edith Anderson (002-74) for a variance to permit the expansion of a garage-storage (cormnercial) use on Copper Lane. Mr. Harold Anderson spoke to the Board and stated he plinned to add a 16' x 24' building to an existing building. The present building is used for general cormnercial purposes. The addition will be used for storage of materials associated with the present business. Mr. Anderson stated that, for the present, he plans to store a boat and trailer in the new area but eventually he will use it for general business purposes. Mr. Anderson presented the Board with photographs of the present building and with several drawings of the proposed construction. Member Holmes questioned Mr. Anderson concerning his "hardship" and was advised that the present lack of storage space was the hardship. No other person spoke in favor of or in opposition to the petition. The Chairman read letters from Mr. J olm Bishop and Mr. Kenneth Duprey opposing the petition. Mr. Anderson was advised that the matter would be taken lUlder con- sideration. The hearing was closed. After due deliberation, and upon motion by Mr. Taylor, it was voted lUlanimously to deny the petition. The Board found no hardship on the part of the petitioner. Tb grant the petition would, in effect, permit the expansion of a non-conforming use in a residential area. The petition was denied. ~~ In the matter of the petition of Gloria M. lilmes requesting a variance:from gro.lUld cover requirements in order to construct a garage. The Chairman called the matter three times and, up person appearing, the petition was. dismissed.
