The meeting was opened at 4:30 p.m. by Chairman Char
with the following Commissioners present: Alexander
Ronald Santos, John Sullivan, and E. Foley Vaughan.
The Minutes of the July 1, 1987 meeting were unanimously approved
as written.
The Chairman welcomed the new Commissioner, Jack Sullivan and
reappointed Commissioner Sandy Cruig.
It was M/S/P to elect Charles S. Mayhew as Chairman for the next
fiscal year.
Hr. David Mittelstadt, of Sasaki Associates, addressed the
Commission on the final present~tion on the Bunker area. He
felt that the open parcels and storage-type businesses would be
better suited in the Bunker area and the Delta area would be best
suited with buildings and structures when developed. He
recommended landscape buffering along the perimeter of the bunker
area, and set aside 15 acres of land near the Maddequecham Valley
to be left natural and undeveloped. Commissioner Vaughan
requested that the MCD permit be reviewed by the entire
Commission before it is finalized.
Bruce MacGregor of Sun Transportation attended the meeting to
request to continue the access road to his area on the Airport
property. He would need a vote of the Town in order to transfer
this land. The Commission requested this subject be discussed
at the next meeting in order to read the material that was
presented by Sasaki and compare it with Mr. MacGregor's proposal.
Mr. Joseph Forns spoke to the Commission regarding the washing of
cars on the Airport. He spoke to the DEQE and MEPA people and
came up with an interim solution of allowing the rent-a-cars to
use a designated area of the pit to wash their cars. Mr. Forns
will coordinate with the Town Healtll Inspector and have a letter
for the next Commissioners meeti~g. Un~il that letter is
received, the rent-a-cars will not use any soap in the water.
