MEETING MARCH 1, 1985
The meeting was opened at 12:45 p.m. by Chairman Robert Allen with
the following Commissioners present: Norman Beach, Robert Epple
and Thomas Giffin.
Mr. Ron Santos attended the meeting to discuss lease terms to erect
a 2-plane T-hangar. On a motion by Commissioner Beach, seconded by
Commissioner Giffin, the following terms were agreed upon and
unanimously voted: The price per square foot for his particular
hangar is $.075 for 3,000 square feet, plus a fee in lieu of taxes.
The Airport will own the hangar in 20 years. 'Mr:--Santos-afso gav'e-
his permission to allow another hangar to be attached.
Regarding the spiraling cost of the maintenance hangar addition,
Commissioner Beach informed the Commission about the HDC meeting
he attended this week and their new requirements. Commissioner
Epple stated he felt the money could be spent on more urgent needs
at this time, as repair of the Tower building and reconstructing
the vehicle parking lot. The other Commissioners were in agreement.
On a motion by Commissioner Beach, seconded by Commissioner Giffin,
it was unanimously voted to table the maintenance hangar addition
and pay the contractor his cancellation fee of $1,500. The
Commission s u g g est e d getting back the large aircraft hangar
and perhaps connecting the two buildings. Mr. Holdgate was
requested to look into it.
Mr. Holdgate informed the Commission that the new refuelers will be
here by April 1. Regarding the tank trucks, Mr. Holdgate has
spoken to Gault Transportation and R. M. Packer Co. Mr. Holdgate
would like to purchase two tanks from Gault, which are 10 years old
and are in good condition. On a motion by Commissioner Giffin,
seconded by Commissioner Epple, it was unanimously voted to authorize
the Manager to purchase two tanks for $20,000 or one for $12,500.
Mr. Holdgate also suggested putting the fuel hauling out to bid, since
our tractors are also in poor condition. On a motion by Commissioner
Beach, seconded by Commissioner Giffin, it was unanimously voted to
put fuel hauling out to bid.
As an answer for off-loading fuel from the barge to the tankers,
Mr. Holdgate suggested extending a 500-foot pipe along the south
side of the Boat Yard and back the trucks down to it. Mr. Holdgate
will research this further.
