Office of Airport Manager
Phone (617) 228-1255
T own of Nantucket
NANTUCKET MEMORIAL AIRPORT
Nantucket Island, Massachusetts 02554
MEETING MAY 19, 1986
The meeting was opened at 4:15 p.m. by Chairman Robert Allen
with the following Commissioners present: Alexander Craig and
Thomas Giffin.
Commissioners Giffin and Craig addressed the meeting on behalf
of their search committee for a new Airport Manager to replace
retiring Kenneth Holdgate. They recommended hiring Mr. Andrew
Creglow, who brings with him 15 years of airport managing
experience. They suggested a salary of $35,000 per year,
reasonable moving expenses, and providing him an Airport
vehicle, equipped with radios. Mr. Creglow will be able to
begin within two weeks. On a motion by Commissioner Giffin,
seconded by Commissioner Craig, it was unanimously voted to
hire Andrew Creglow as Airport Manager, contingent on Massa-
chusetts Aeronautics Commission approval.
On a motion by Commissioner Giffin, seconded by Commissioner
Craig, it was unanimously voted to accept the Lawrence Lynch
Corporation bid on the completion of the parking lot. The
notice to proceed was signed by the Chairman and the contract
was executed by the Commissioners present.
Mr. Holdgate informed the Commission that he and Commissioner
Craig attended a meeting with the Board of Selectmen today and
will be getting together with the Coast Guard to review an
acceptable site for off loading aviation fuel. Mr. Joe Forns
informed the Commission that the Coast Guard has to have a
licensed, designated, unloading area for aviation fuel, which
we do not have at this time. We have requested one for the
proposed pipeline, which will be located south of the Shipyard
on Town property. We have prepared an Operations Manual for
the pipeline and a notice of intent has to be filed. This
could possibly be in line within a month from now. We have
Conservation's approval, which must be renewed every six
months. A lease/purchase plan of obtaining this pipeline will
be looked into. Mr. Forns stated that the pipeline would be
approximately $16,250., which does not include installation and
miscellaneous materials such as fire extinguishers. The
Commission requested the Manager and Mr. Forns continue with
setting up the pipeline.

MEETING MAY 19, 1986 continued
On Mr. Holdgate's request, the Commission approved putting out
a NOTAM that we are out of fuel, unless we get definite word
that we are to receive fuel within the next two days.
Regarding receiving fuel on the Auriga, Chairman Allen stated
he did not want to take the responsibility of the liability for
someone else's ship.
After much discussion, on a motion by Commissioner Craig,
seconded by Commissioner Giffin, it was unanimously voted to
provide a Hold Harmless Letter from the Town of Nantucket to
unload our barge at the Steamship Authority dock.
Commissioner Giffin addressed the Commission on a request he
received from Confederate Air Force to land at our Airport on
July 7 and 8 and display their restored B-17G aircraft. An
admission fee would be charged to the public. The Commission
concurred.
In keeping with the mandates of the Pipeline Operations Manual,
it was approved to promote Joseph Reis to the position of Working
Foreman for a trial period of 60 days to keep continuity and
oversee the fueling operation.
The next meeting will be held June 2, 1986, at 4:15 p.m.
The meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
