","i o~ ....tJ.... ~po~ Office of Airport Manager Phone (617) 228-1255 T own of Nantucket NANTUCKET MEMORIAL AIRPORT Nantucket Island, Massachusetts 02554 MEETING MAY 14, 1986 The meeting was opened at 3 p.m. by Chairman Robert Allen with the following Commissioners present: Norman Beach, Robert Epple and Thomas Giffin. The Minutes of the April 30, 1986 meeting were unanimously approved as written. The only bid received was from Lawrence-Lynch Corporation for a total of $505,137.37 to finish the interior of the parking lot. On a motion by Commissioner Giffin, seconded by Commissioner Epple, it was unanimously voted to award the contract to the Lawrence-Lynch Corporation, after successful review by the Engineer, Donald Hastie. A letter was read from Mr. James R. Dennis regarding servicing the Nobadeer Beach with a mobile food service. This letter will be referred to Town Counsel for his recommendation. A letter was read from Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission in response to the Managerls inquiry regarding our Airport's difficulty in obtaining avfuel. The Director from MAC stated that failure to supply fuel could mean revocation of an Airport's Certificate of Approval and severe legal implications to the Town of Nantucket. A copy of this letter will be forwarded to Mark Arnold of the Conservation Commission. Petro lane Gas requested permission to relocate their business and terminate their lease agreement in the Delta property. Mr. Holdgate informed the Commission that Mr. Tony Yatesl business has become a distribution center for propane and would like to accommodate petrolane at his location on Bunker Road. On a motion by Commissioner Epple, seconded by Commissioner Beach, this request was unanimously approved. The other items on the agenda were tabled, awaiting response from Town Counsel. On a motion by Commissioner Giffin, seconded by Commissioner Beach, it was unanimously approved to write Bruce Poor that according to our Counsel, the taking of the piece of property in the approach to Runway 6 was done properly. Page 1 of 2 MEETING MAY 14, 1986 continued Regarding the letter from the Historic District disapproving our proposed signage at the Airport, the Commission felt that since it was aeronautically related, we should continue to allow the individual airlines' logos. If further problems arise, then it could be presented to the Board of Appeals. On a motion by Commissioner Giffin, seconded by Commissioner Beach, it was unanimously voted to require John Brock to close the section of security fencing where his proposed T-hangar should be, in order to assure airport security.
