These units are usually justified as a "temporary" solution to space needs and tend to become permanent parts of the airport landscape. They are not a positive influence on the appearance of the airport. Prior to construction of permanent buildings, they can be supported to provide space for construction personnel, plans, phones, equipment, and supplies. POLICY: It shall be the policy at Nantucket Memorial Airport that trailers, or temporary buildings not on permanent foundations which do not have design approval of the Airport Commission, shall not be erected or placed on the Nantucket Memorial Airport. On a case by case basis, such units as are needed to support construction or alteration of structures, under a valid building permit, of the airport may be authorized by the Airport Manager for the period of actual construction and a short period, not to exceed ten (10) days, before and after, for mobilization and shut-down of the project. Those trailers/temporary structures authorized in the past may continue in use for a period of two (2) years until December 1, 1992, or until the current named tenant vacates the current lease, whichever is sooner.
