A Public Hearing of the NANTUCKET ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS will
be held at 1:00 P.M., FRIDAY, APRIL 7, 2006, IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM,
TOWN ANNEX BUILDING, 37 Washington Street, Nantucket, Massachusetts, on the
Application of the following:

MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL
BOARD OF APPEALS FILE NO. 037-06
Applicant (New Life) is seeking relief by SPECIAL PERMIT under Nantucket
Zoning By-law Section 139-18A and B (Parking requirements-off site). Applicant is
asking the Board to waive the on-site parking requirement and allow off-site provision of
the required parking on the Nantucket Elementary School property across the street at 30
Surfside Road. The Applicant proposes to use a commercial structure, once used as a
health club, as a place of worship for a faith-based organization with up to approximately
200 members at peak occupancy. Parking is calculated based upon one per four people
with a total requirement of 50 parking spaces, with only about four spaces provided on
site. The Locus conforms to all other dimensional requirements of the Zoning By-law.
The Premises is located at 45 SURFSIDE ROAD, Assessor's Map 67, Parcel 14,
Plan 02-15, Lot 6A. The property is zoned Residential-Commercial-2.

Applicant is seeking relief by SPECIAL PERMIT pursuant to Nantucket Zoning By-law
Section 139-18(B) in order to allow the use of off-site premises to meet the required off-
street parking requirement under the Nantucket Zoning By-law. Locus has been a health-
club and a school in the past and will now be a meeting place for a faith-based
organization with capacity for up to 200 seats. Pursuant to Nantucket Zoning By-law
Section 139-18 (D) 1 parking space is required for every 4 seats for this type of use. 6
parking spaces are provided on Locus. Applicant has secured parking off-site premises to
provide the remaining required parking spaces. The Locus is conforming in all other
respects. The Premises is located at 45 Surfside Road, Assessor's Map 67, Parcel 14,
Plan No. 02-15. The property is zoned Residential Commercial-2.
