Pursuant to warrant the inhabitants of~the town met in the
American Legion Hall,~Monday , February 20th,~1939 at 9 A. M.
Cards of'instructions to voters, penalty;cards, Voting~~'
lists, Speciman Ballots, were posted outside the guard rail.
Instructions to voters,&penalty cards were posted in the booth~.
,,' The following ballot clerks were sworn in:~Ira~-~Appleton,
William Barrett, Edward P. Tice, John Driscoll, Nelson 0.
Dunham, S. W. Legg.
The ballots in two packages said to contain seventeen
hundred and six hundred and fifty-six official ballots were
delivered to the ballot clerks at the gate and-thgir receipt
.taken therefore. ,, ~', ,.
The ballot box was'then opened for public inspection.
It was examined by Moderator, Roy E. Sanguinetti,.Constable
Lawrence F. Mooney, Constable Franklin S. Chadwick, Irving
A.~Soverino and Wesley A. Fordyce. Found to be empty.. The
register was set at 0000..- The ballot box locked and the keys
thereof turned over to Arthur R. Callwitz, Constable. Con-
sta~e Mooney presented the warrant for the Annual'Town Elec-
tion. Moderator Sanguinetti read Article I of the Warran$.
"' S~lectmen Soverino moved that when the polls,close at
5 P. M. the meeting adjourn to reconvene Tuesday evening, ,.
February 21, 193~, at ~:30 P. M. at Drea~land Theatre. Motion
carried.
Polls declared open at 9 A. M. Voting starting at once.,
-At ll~ll A. M. the register on the ballot box standing at
~50. The ballot box was opened and the ballots removed to
the emergency ballot box by Constable Callwitz, Sanguinetti,
and Wesley A. Fordyce, Town Clerk. The ballot box locked'
and the keys returned to the Constable. Voting continued.
At 2:23 P. M. the register on the ballot box standing at
1008. The ballot box was opened and the ballots remove~ to
the'emergency ballot box by Constable Charles C.'Chadwick,
Ballot Clerk ,Tice and Town Clerk Fordyce. The ballot box
locked and the keys returned to the Constable. Voting continu~
At 4:56.P.M. the Moderator announced the polls would
close in four minutes. Moderator declared the polls closed
at § P. M. the'register on the ballot box stan¢ing, at, 1384..
