, The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen ~as held
~this Thursday evening at 8:15 p. m. with all members pres- ent.
Treasury Warrant ~52 in the amount of $23,396.13 was~ ~arrant
presented,~signed and approved. ~ ~.
' "Mr.~Norman McCleave"was present to discuss~the~t- N~E.T.T.
ition of New,England Telephone & Telegraph Company to erect erect
five poles on'Tennessee Avenue and Cambridge Street. It poles
was voted that N. E. T. T. CO. be granted permission to
erect these five poles.
Four~copies~of the proposed~County Layout on Polpis Polpis
Road were received from the Department of Public Works. Road
Same were turned over to County Clerk
The Department of conservation sent a letter to the ~ Moth
Board stating that they,would like the'Town of Nantucket to Control
r&ise the sum of $5,000.00 for Gypsy Moth Liability for
1949. It was voted to communicate with this Department to
determine if funds were available for distribution through-
out the State.
The Political Calendar for 1949 was accepted and Political~'
approved by the Board. Calendar
...... 'A letter was received from the Division of Employment Board
Security, Board of Review, stating that they were changing Review
the date of their meeting in Nantucket from January 7 to
January 6, 1949.
A communication was received fr~m the Department of Civil
~,Civil Service and Registration stating that they ha~d no Service
eligible list of men in Nantucket for police.service.~They
also s'tated that another police examination is scheduled
for )~arch 5, 1949.
It was,voted to'approve the licensM Of Mr. J..B. License
Ashley t o s ell wine and malt ~ beverages.

George R~y Johnson was g~anted a renewal ~f his pistol~ Pistol-~
permit for 1949.~ Permit
A~letter and forms were received from the',Svate Hous- Housin~~t~'J~
lng Board. They stated that ~January ~1, 1949 had been Authority,
the deadline,dat~ established by them for credit~unless
they had received a formal Application for'Financial'Aid
'from the local Housing Authority. Voted"to turn same over
to Mr. Leroy Pease, Secretary Protem of Housing Authority.
~ The A~,D..C. case of MrS~.~auline Demers was presented A~.D.~C~
It was voted to notify her that the Board did not approve Reports
of her living conditions and to make eveyy_effort to get
located elsewhere. All other A. ~. C cases were approved
as presented.
