Chief~Cartwright~conferred ~ith the~ Board in 'reference to vacation pay for Mr. Haddon. As Mr.~ Haddon had been discharged from the Department, t~e Chief could see no~ reason for giving him any vacation pay. The proposition was later discussed, and Chairman Severing stated that he would attempt to ascertain the feeling of the Town in the matter, and report at the next meeting. Mr..Gardner Russell was present to duscuss the sale the MacKay property to the Town. The site comprises appro~ imately 1~ acres bounded by ~ain Street, New Lane, North Liberty Street and~Brush Lane. He stated that he thought a fair price would be about $2,000.00 an acre. As the site might be d~sirable for school purposes, a hospital or used for~Veterans' Housing, the Bo~rd took the matter unde~ advisement and Mr. Gardner Russell stated that no attempt would be made to sell the property until the annual Town Meeting considered the matter. Treasury Warrant.#50 in the amount of $15,2~3.19 was presented,signed and approved. A letter was received from Mr. Sanguinetti stating that the 19~ Town Repor~ brought the By-Laws up to date and listed~a few additibns that had taken place since that ~ime. As he had previously told the Board a number of the By-Laws published at that time were not By-Laws, Chairman 'SeverinG agreed to consult with Mr. Sanguinetti to try and straighten the matter out. A letter was received from th~ Cape Cod Chamber'of Commerce requesting the payment of Nantucket's contributio~ to the Old Colony Transportation Committee. As we had previously decided not to make this contribut~on~ Chairma~ Severing ~as to confer with Mr. Manter and see if it warranted reconsideration. It was'voted to request the Veterans' H0usi~g'Commit- tee to confer with the Board on December 23 in-order to ascertain whether they~felt there was any~interest in goinl ahead with such a program ..... The question of ha~ng~signed no contract for road. work was discussed, and it.was voted to request Mr. Rounds. ville to attend the next meeting o~ the Board. C~ntracts for the Sparks Avenue~i~pr0veme~t Were redeived from the Department of Public.Works and'it was decided before signing them to confer~with the Commission- ers when the Board goes to Boston next week. I~C'~ Pharmacy was~granbed a rene~l~of their common~ victuallers and ice cream licenses. ~ ~ ~he ChoWder Bowl was granted a ~enewal of their co~o~ Mictuallers license, license to sell ice cream and license to hold various entertainments. ~ A~letter W~s received fr~m Mr. William L. Mather resigning as~inspector'of wiring as of December 31,'1958. It was voted to accept this resignation and request Mr. Niather to attend the next meeting of the Board for his opinion on his successor.
