Mrs. F..Voisanger appeared to P~otest'the denial Of her request to keep chickens.'She was advised that the matter would b~ reviewed and,notified of action taken. ~ Mr. James K.~Giidden acting for Chester Barrett requested a permit for an additional bus run to Surf Side. Same was granted subject to D. P. U.1 approval. 5ir. Cadrian reported on the rat extermination work. From the number of places he had inspected'and worked on, the project seems to be progressing satisfactorily and with good results. ~r. Robert ~ite appeared to protest against the Proposed parking ban on S. Beach S~reet, stating such a measure would have serious results on his bussiness. The matter was deferred for a week for further~study.' Warrant #23 in amount of ~20,~02.38 was appr'oved. It was voted to advertise for applications for~ Life Guard at Childrens Beach. An Innholders license was granted to 5irs. R. W. Anderson of 15 Eill Street. R. J. Haskell was granted.a renewal of his Common Victualez license. The requests of ~dr. Lamdon Barnes for a no parking a~sa on Orange St. and 5!rs. Helen R. Toner for a no parking area.in. front of her home on Broad Street were deferred for a week for further investigation· A petition was received~ signed by 19 residents of Si~- sconset~ calling attention to the fire hazzard due to smoking in the vacant property of ~rs. H.~arshall Gardner at the foot'of Elbow Lane. It was voted~to request.the Fire Chief to-inspect the property and report at the nest meeting.' It was votsd to refer a letter from~the HOward Clock in reference to'inspecting the Town Clock to ~r. Lincoln Ceely. It was voted to ~fi~e letter received : . ~ ' ~ from ~Ir ~thhew Jaeckle applying for possition of Supt. of Highways. ~ The~appltcati0n 6f New England Tel & Tel CO. and Nantucket Gas & Elec. Co. to change the location of a pole on Darling Street was approved. No~objecti0n was ~raised concerning the request of ~,Ir. Francis L. Barton to bring a Trailer to Nantucket and locate same on South Shore for a Beach House. A permit was granted the Straight'li~arf Theatre to show legitimate stage plays from July I through Sept ll nightly, excluding Sundays. Action on Article ~5 of the 1946 Warrant was again deferred for a week. A permit was granted'~Joseph ~. Lopes to hold Dances at Leagon Hall Thursdays from June 1Vth to Oct ~th. Clifford Eddy was Voted a vote of thanks for a box of cigars presented to the Board. It.was voted to post "Slow" signs on Pleasant Street Ext. from Yowk St. to Cherry Street.
