Ir'was voted to establish a' 25 ft. "no-parking" area from t he ~ntrance'~,0f,,'~the'garage to Whale Street. Roy Sanguine~ti reported on the State Veterans Housing Pro- gram. He stated that it would be necessary for a Special Town Meetin=~ to establish a Housing Authority to deal with the matte~. It was decided to wait until the State perfected their plans before taking any action. ¥~. Coffin brought up the matter of moving the 'Sconset Play- ground from its present location to an area under the Bluff near Codfish Park. As the Town of Nantucket seemed to own the pro- posed location, it was voted to move the playground equipment to that location when it was deemed desirable to do so; Warrant No. 15 for $6,224.98 was approved and bills ordered paid. ~ Mrs. charles Annis, President of the Nantucket Graduate Nurses Association, was requested to conduct a local cancer fund campaign. Seddon W. Legg, Jr. was granted a permit to ~erect a staging at '41 Fair Street. Dennis Dias was granted a Common Victualer's and Soft Drink license. Theodore Kania was granted a ~lass I New and Used Car Dealers license. The application of Florence Voisanger to keep 50 chickens was tabled for a week to make further investigations. Mrs. Emily Coffin was granted a Common Victualer's license. John Kittila,, Harold_ Jewett, and William Reith were appointed Special Police officers to serve without pay. Clifford Eddy was granted a license to sell ice cream, run a taxi,~and sell soft drinks. It~ was voted to request the Nantucket Gas & Electric Company to place a street light on pol~ No. 3 on LYon Street. A~letter was received~from the De'partment of Conservation stating that Mr. Barnes was to retire shortly,~ and Mr. Charles L. Wheeler from the Woods Hole 0ceano~raphic Institute had been employed by the Department. Cyrus Barnes'telephoned that Bill No. 2157 on the Chatham Bend Opening was ~efore the Com. on Conservation. That no date had been set for the hearing.-~Communications on this petition should be addressed to Mr. C~ocket.
