good shape. , The "House of Correction "was in Such bad shape, on old
that it would have to be completely reconstructed at an estimated jail
cost of ~la,000. As it had little historic value, he felt such
an expenditure not warranted. The papers were requested to
publicize this so that the Selectmen could find out how the town
felt about tearing the building down.

Miss Henry Conferred with the Board on the' Steamboat
authority~ She felt the people of the town were not satisfied
with the .~$0,000,000. plan, and after some discussion the Secre
was requested to write Representative Barnes urging him to have
that recommendation eliminated and the original ~6,000,000. plan
carried out. This would give Nantucket a new steamer, at the
same time as the ferry for the Vineyard.-.
