The Chatham~Bend-co~mit~ee,co~sisting ~f Me~srs~Du~ham, Pease,~Blount, Yerxa, and Winslow confered with the Board. ~ Mr. Dunham stated the~the Committee had been unable to 8etermin Just who owned the land where the cut was to be made and the only thing that could be used for a marker was pole 141 of the Govt. line. He'felt that the Selectmen should take over the~ taking of the land as p~ovited~for in Article 50. After some 01scussion on the taking of land by Eminent Domain it~was vote8 to request the Town Counsel to determine, if possible, the lawful owners and see what arrangement could be made with them for the purcha~e'"%r option oN the land in question. ~. Mr. Soverino~suggested sending the Chatham Bend committee toEether with some of the Selectmen to Boston to confer with State Conservation Board, The Department of Public Works, and the U. S. Engineers about the digging of~this opening.~Mr. ~Todd was of the opinion that a letter~M~uld be less expensive. After.some discussion it was voted that Mr. Soverino would call either the State Conservation Boar8 o~ Dept. of Public~ Works, to line the work up,with the Committee to take the trip to Boston immediately if it was felt necessary. The regular Meeting of the Board opened at 830 P.M. Mr. Blount objected to Mr. Indic over article in To~m Crie~ which stated the bed of oyeters at Nadaket had been pilfered as it was'a reflection on him as Shellfish Inspector. The Board assured Mr. Blount it was very satisfied with the work he was ~oing. .On motion of Mr. Soverino it was voted to move 150 bu; of oysters into shallow water for the public. ~r. Mather c0nfered with the Board stating that Rep. Barnes wanted official letter stating the term of-office~for the Tree Commission to be~appointed under Article 8V. Upon advise of Mr.'Sanguinetti that'the Board could designate the term of office, it was voted that~one member should be appointed for three years, one for two years, and one for one~year..There- after one member to be appointed annually for a term of three years. The two members appointed by the above three to be appointed for a'term of one.year. ~r. Sanguinetti:reported on the 01d Colony hearing he had just attended. The break dowm or.figures shown bff~the New Haven showed the Cape figures to be better than other sections of the line. The request of the New Haven to,stop all'service for~the next six weeks was opposed by Mr..Samguinetti. He stated that the schedule for the summer was better than last year with the trains making better connections with'the boat. It Was voted that the following seasonal'All Alcoholic l~cense applications take the usual course p~scribed by law. v~ite Elephant - Inn Holder Stasconset Beach !Iouse- Inn Holder Sankaty Head Golf Club - Club It was voted to grant Lnn Holders licenses to the Sia- sconset Beach House and The Roberts House. 'Warrant # 12~in the amount of~$i5,~25.vo was approved and bills ordered paid. It was voted to have the Chief Of Police request all Merchants to close and all Mechanics to cease work on Good Friday from noon to 3 P. ~. in order to attend services of the~ choice.
