: Shellfish .inspector B10unt Was Present to confer With the
Board as to the'distribution of 40 bushels Of seed clams that
were to a~rive on the boat the next day.It was voted to place 20
bushels of the seed at specified points in Madaket Harbor, 5 bushe
along the South Harbor bea~h,a'nd 15 bushels in Polpis Harbor.
.~ Miss Helen Bartlett was granted a permit for the Nantucket
Grange to Conduct dances at Chase Hall on every Friday evening
begenning on'November Vth, 1947.
A letter from Cci.Lewis Praeger was received expressing his~
appreciation for the Board's letter to him conveying their thank
and appreciation on behalf of the tOwn for Col.Praeger's servic'e
The Board received a letter from Mitchell Todd in which he
thanked the Board his appointment as commission&r~to succeed Col
P~aeger]and hoped that he Would become more fitted for the post
as he obtained more knowledge of the locai~'c0nditions.

In reply to a letter written'Gov.Bradford which the/wrote as
to eviction cases,advisement was received which under the rent
control act of 194V made the accomplishment Of evictions possibl
for any of five reasons. The Board decided to'seek informatiOn~-
court
in regard to the number of eviction notices now pending in local
~ It was Voted to insert a notice.in the lo~al paper in regard
t0 the taking of scallops with dredges on Sunday for family~Use~
It was voted that all scallops taken for commercial use shall be
landed in the shell in a bag marked "Town of Nantucket. "m failure
t0'complywith this regulation will result in a fine of $20,or
the loss of license or both.
It was voted ~hat a notice be inserted in th~ local paper
that the Governors Commission will h01d a public hearing on the
bill which~ covers the-study and report on the water transportati~
between the islands,the hearing will be held in Am. Legion Hall.
