Nembers of The cOmmission present were'Senator/Porbush Chairman, RePresentatives~Armst~0ng- of Pl~mouth, O'Brian of Fall River,Ern~sb R.Barnes Biologist,Dept. 6f Conservation,Arthur W.Weston,Dept.of Public Health'and C~r~us Barnes,Repres~htative of Nantucket.The meeting convened at 8 o'cl~ in the evening,and was opened by Chairman SeverinG then turned'thl 'meeting over to senator Richard I.Porbush, Chairman of the C0mmiss: A lengthly 'discussion was held,during which the matter of shellfi~ pr°p0Eation and-the condition Of the various areas was thoroughly year the amounts the town had paid for shellfish propogation, and' -exte'rmination'~of~shellfish~pests,and was thoroughly questioned by members'of the Commission,many 'Of the fishermen attending the meeting added substantial information in addition to that already given by the Board and Shellfish Inspector. ~r.Barnes State Biolo .gist also gave a.lengthy talk on the subject and the~advantages that seeding the various areas would have for the~island · fisherrde The'Board'imPressed on the Commission that Nantucket needed great subsidy from the Sb~te in order that the w6rk of shellfish propog. ation could be more completely carried Out,and the fishermen be able:to earn a living~wage,the Commies'ion agreed that that should b$ done and w~uid, make their recommendations toI the Legislature accordingly. It was recommended by the Board'~hat together with the BOard the Commission visit the foll0wi~g 'areas"if pos.~ible.
