Meeting'' with four members present,Chairman Soverfno presidingJ The Town Accountant submitted treasury warrant #37 Shooing ar~Wa~r'ant expenditure of $7,7'66.95 Voted warrant be accepted,and'the bills ,d. ~gent Norman Giffin of the Mass.S.S.Line for Nantucket was Maes.S.S. ~ ~ I ,, Line present with a winter schedule that the Company plann~'d for.the Schedul~ service for the Island. This service called for a boat due in to Nantucket at 2.15 P.M.and out at 3.00 P.M. with bus connections a Woods Hole; The Board objected very strongly against'this schedul~ wanting instead a boat out Nantucket at 7.30 A.M. to connect with the ll.O0 A.M~ train to Boston ,this service would properly care for both passengers and freight,their schedule would not. " It was voted that contact with' both.steamship,and railroad officials be made for the purpose of getting better service for the Island and that the officials m~t witt~ the Board on Sept.24tl. Shellfish Inspector Blount was present to report on shellfis~ ~conditions in the various areas.It was voted that the use of scallop dredges be prohibited thrOugh the month of October... A letter was received from Rev.Willard L.McKinstry advising that the Nant.Service Mens Club had set aside $1~00. to be used b' the Selectmen to buy a bronz Memorial Plaque Honor Roll to replac~ the Honor Roll now on the sanford House grounds. It'was voted to write Mr.McKinstry and exPress the Board's appreciation, and at the proper time to co-operate in this worthy undertaking. The Board was in receipt of further complaints in regard to the matter Of the sewer beds,and pollution of waters at Surfside after the sewer commissioners had promised to attend to this matt, Voted that immediate steps be taken to correct this condition or drastic action would be taken to ~afeguard the pUblic'health.
