for the purpose of completing the unfinished buefness remaining

Chester S.Barrett ~equested Pe~aisslon to operate a second bu~
over the same route he is operating his present buS, stating that
'~'~ i there was op~rtunity for ano~he~ bus in the public interests.
Towhill & Chase competitors in the sight seeing tou~s opposed the
Board~s granting-another bus to B~r~ett on the grounds that there
was not sufficienbbusiness for another bus. Francis Burgess
operating the present bus for barrett said that'Towhill & Chase
Were not not complying with the provisions of their schedule in
cutting Out parb of their ?cute at various times,also stopping 'at
Allen's restaurant when they were supposed to continue directly
on their roUte. After considerable discussion it was Voted'to
grant Barrett another bus privilege, with the understanding that
he 'conform to the same route as was granted him by the Department
of Public Utilities for his first sight seeing bus,and that 'a
letter be written him to that effect. It was also voted that a
letter be written to Towhill & Chase notifying them that they
must carry out the schedule of their sight seeing bus as recorded
at the Department of PuBlic Utilities.
It was voted that.Charles S.Grant be.requ~sted.~c~.tende~ his
resignation to the Department of M.a~'ne ~i~he~ieS/and that'he'
further notify the Board of Selectm~n,to~ that effect.
It was voted to grant Gibbs Penrose ~permission to held a
garden' party and fair,also to 'close ~off part~ of Pine' street on
AugUst 20,194~,and that the Poli~e Department ~be informed.The
request Was 'granted from ~i.'00 p.M. t0',6.00 P.~.
'Jqseph Rezen~es Jr'.was granted a Special Police license.
Resignations of the following members' of the Airport Commiss-
ion were received; George M.Lake'George Jones,Howard 'Chase.
Roy SangUinet~i a newly appointed-member of the Commission also
stated that it would be impossible for' him to serve.It was voted
that the resignations be tabled for furthe~ consideration.
Mfs.Ellen Cook was granted a soft drinks license,
Adjourned' at ll.05 P.M
