June 16,1947 (evening) a petition was presented in protest
against the change in the departure of the early morning boat
~out of Nantucket'as recently'fixed by the Mass.S.S.Lines,Inc.
~The pepition was signed by 143 business men and residents"of
the island. It was voted to sustain the petition and send an
official protest as ~he Board of Selectmen to Dept.of Pub.Uttl~
Herbert J.Terry applied for a permi~ to operate a golf drtv

tabled Subject to the Board's viewing the premises.
R.D.Wilson,co-director of the Straight Wharf Theatre was
granted a permit to operate the Straight Wharf Theatre,subject
'to the~appro~al of the Fire Chief.
A inquiry was received from Mfs.Ethel Nellquist as to the
requirements needed tO oPerate a "Ladies'Reducing Salon" here
this stm~ner.The matter was referred to the Town's counsel.
Joseph M.Lopes was granted a permit to conduct dances at ·
Legion` Hall'on Thursday night's for the season until Labor Day

given it up on account of going into the taxi business.

A letter was received from'Ebon Hutchinson,P~estdent of th~

its regulation in regard to the ll.o,clock closing hour of the
Cocktail Lounge.it was voted that the regulation be ~evoked.

su~fa~ing at the Polpis Road will require a "hot mix"it will
be necessary to divert traffic along the State Highway for a
