oil. It was voted that same be tabled for further 'consideration.
An application from H.w. Killen & Sons for a permit to erect gasoline
pumps on land consisting of two lots at the intersection o'f North Beach and
Easton Streets owned by H.W Killen & Sons,the land legally acquired by deed
0f.Aug.2Q,1947;Inf0rmed that application.to be made thrU?ire Chief.
.~ A permit to hold a dance on New Years eve in the American Legion Hall
for the Zegion was granted to ~ohn L. Hardy,spenser, from 10 P.~.to 2.A.M.
A license was granted Mre.Bertha L. Hayden for each of the following:
A common victualler,ice cream, and entertainment.
A letterwa's received from Sumner Crosby,Attorney for H.V.Lawrence Inc.
advising that previous bills had been billed the town f6r a ballance due Mr.
~awrence'0f $~75. for 25 American Elms Supplied by him on May 1946 the total
bill for thees was ~875..It Was voted that a letter be written kt~y~sumner
that the Board had n01 knowledge of this billas none had been received,and
i~uediate check with the Town Accountant Would be made to adjust the matter.
'A letter from Town Clerk Coffin suggested that ~arch lst,1947 would be
a most convenient date to hold the 1948 annual town meeting therebyglving
ample time to make all preparations,advertising otc. It was so voted.
A letter was received fro~ Att~ Sanguinet$i,President of the Nantucket
Cottage Hospital in acknowledgement of the letter s~nt them bY'the' Board.
The Board received the District Highway Engineer's certificate of com-
pietion of work £rom the DePt.of Public Works,of Polpis,~auwinet,and Surfd
side roads;begun July i4th, 1947,c0mpleted Decl,1947.Total cost ~3,914.08.
A report was received from ~,~s Cathreen Grimes,Social Worker as to the
extra needs of several ~.~.cases for this period only. Same' was approved.
