And~on ~Ionday, March 10, to bring in their votes, all on one ballot, for the following: One Moderator for one year: Five Selectmen, each for one year; One Town Treasurer for ~ne year; One Collector of Taxes for one year; One-Town Clerk for three years; One Sewer Commissioner for three years; One Tree Warden for one year; Two School Committee members for three years each; Six Constables, each for one year. The polls will open at 7:30 o~clock in the morning and may close st 5:00 in the afternoon. REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE FINANCE CO.V~iTTEE To the Citizens and Taxpayers: The Finance'Committee hel'd Public Hear~_ngs the week of February 17th, 1947, as advertised. To the Citizens and Property Owners of the Town of Nantucket: In presenting the following Report, your Committee has ,been confronted with the problems of increased salaries in all departments, added inorease~ of materials and supplies, as well o~s added expense of Airport ;¥[aintenance, School Department, Fire Department, Police Department, necessary for the comfort and convenience of our increasing Sun~aer population. We have therefore considered each Article in the Warrant with cons[der- able thought, believing the following Recommendations to be liberal and consistent with a p.olicy of fairness ~s to the Ind- %vidual Taxpayer and slso to our Non-Resident property holders who carry a substantial percentage of the Tax Burden. We wish to express our sincere ap~reclation for the co-op- eration of the Town Officials as well as the Citizens of the Town in helping this Committee to present this Report for your cons iderat ion. ' Article To receive reports of the various O er~rtmeuts and committee~ which shall come before this meeting. We recommefi~ that the reports of the various dep~r~ments' and committees be received. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town Tress- urer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation.of the revenue of the financial year, beginning January 1,~1947,~and to'issue a.note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and renew any note or uotes as may De given for a period of less than one year, in ~ccord- ance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws.
