HomeMy WebLinkAbout1946-06-18 " Pursuant to warrant the inhabitants of the town of' N~tucket met, in the ~erican Legion Hall, ~esday J~e 18th, 19~8 at 9:~0 o'clock in the forenoon to select the candidates fo~ nomination at the State P~ary to be elected at the State Election in November. Inst~ctions to :Voters, penalty cards,' voting lists, and' spec~en ballots were posted outside the ~ard ~ail. Instructions to Voters, and penalty ca~ds were posted in the booths. ~e following ballot clerks were sworn in:- Edward P. Tice; I~a W. ,Appleton; Charles H. Bloat; and James J. Levins. ~e ballots in t~ee sealed packages said to contain 82~ D~OCRATIC ballots and 1900 REP~LICAN ballots were given to the Ballot Clerks and their ~eceipt taken, there fo~. ~e ballot box was then opened fo~ public inspection. it was ex. ned b~ Constable Lawrence F. Nooney; Edward P. Tice; Ira W. Appleton$ James J. Levins; and A~chibald Cat.right ~d fo~d to be empty. ~e ~egister on the ballot box was set at 0000. ~e ballot box was the locked and the keys thereof turned over to Lawrence F. Nooney, Constable in cha~ge.~ Constable Nooney presented the Warr~t for.the State P~ary. ~e War~ant was read by the to~ Cle~kand at ~:~0 A.M. the polls were declared open. At ~:55 P.M. the town Clerk declared that the polls would close in five minutes.~At ~:00 P.M. the polls were declared closed.'~e register on the ballot box was then fo~ to read 188. ~e following Tellers were swo~n in: F~a~ W.
