Regular meeting of the Board was held cn October 25, 1942. The meeting
was called to order mt ?;30 P.M. by I.~Soverino," Chairman. The members pre-
sent were Soveri~o, Gliddens and Smith.
The ToWn Acco~mtant presented Warrant ~42 showing an expenditure of
$1,889.07. Same was voted ap~n~d as read and bills ordered paid.
The resignation of Earl S. Mayo, as Shellfish Inspector, was received and
it was voted to accept same.
Applications of 8harles S. Grant, Charles H. Blount and William Winslow,
we~e received for the position of Shellfish Inspector to fill the vacancy, and
a ballot was taken, charles H. Blount receiving the majority ~ote and:he was
declared elected to the position.
John C. Ring was before the Board relative to the extension to time' on the
Polpis ltoad Contract and he agreed to write a letter to the Board requesting
Charles S. Fer~ira and James H. Welsh were present and requested a permit
to operate ,two (2) Bowling Alleys. Same was tabled for one week.
The School Board comprising Stuart Day, Chairman, Mrs. Della Chapel, Sec'y
Norman P. Giffin, and M~s. Yera Jaeckle were present requesting bhat candidates
be nominated to fill the vacancy on the School Board caused by the resignation'
~f Charles A. Seldon. Eev. Daniel A. Bennett was the only candidate placed in
nomination and on balloting by the joint Board of Selectmen and School ~ommitte~
M~r. Bennett Was declared :unanimously elected to fill the position for the re-
maider of the fiscal year, receiving the total seven ~otes.

A letter was received from Everett U. CrosBy informing the Board that the
Nantucket Eealty Trust had a Ford hand dump truc~ for sale.. _- ~: .... '~:-'
A communication was received from the Department of Conservation, Ealph
H. 0shorn, Director, suggesting that all areas having seed sc~lops and few if
any, adult scallops be declared as closed areas. The matter was taken under
advisement for one week.

A letter was received from Mrs. Louise Streeter Warren Martin re~esting~
~a detailed 'history of taxes, Properties, sales and banking in connection ~Jith
her earlier residence on the island. It was voted that ~ letter be written
