HomeMy WebLinkAbout1942-10-15 Neeting of October 15, 1942 A meeting of the Board was'held on October 15, 1942. The members present were Soverino, Gliddens and Smith. Chairman Sov- erino presided. Town Accountant presented Treasurers WarrantS41 to the amount of ~5,093.32. It was voted that the Warrant be approved as read and bill be paid. A request was received from Killen Brothers, Inc. to appoint the following as.Public Weighers: Edna B. Wood and Harold W. Kille~ The Board voted that they be appointed. 'A letter was received from ~r. Bassett Jones '§uggesting that seed scollops bordering the north shore of his property and Berses Meeting Warrant #41 Public ,~eighers Removal ' of seed- scollops. Harbor that are in shallow water be hauled off to deeper water. It was voted that the Secretary write a letter to Shellfish Inspect. or Earl ~,.~ayo to remove the seed to deeper water. The th!r~-quarterly bills from the Nantucket Cottgge Hospital, pavement by the Town to be made from the ~[~2500 Aooro~o~'~ation, were received. It was voted that these be paid. The Board received a letter from ~r. Eohn E. Troy, District High~ay Engineer of the' Dept. of Pub!ic~Works, regarding a request made by them to have ~the work o~ Polpis Road Postpone~ until early Spring. ~gr. Troy suggested that the Board have ~lr. John C. Ring of time to tvrite a letter to them requesting an E>~tensionzon his Contract with 'the Town, and then for the Board to forward this letter to I~{r. Troy when he, in turn, will make a rec~endation to the Boston ~ office. ~It was voted that the Secretary Write ~r. Ring for this le~ N~vy D~ ~ ~ ..... ~ ~ ~ ~r. Kenneth Pease~f0r the~Com~,it~,%~equ~sted a permit to con. duct a Parade on Na~y Day, October 2Vth, 1942, also for'a dance ~in Red I~en's Hall from 8 P.Mj to 12. It was voted to grant the reques~ Lieut.~ B. F. Runk, of the U.S. Coast Guard Washington D. C., was presen~ 'to request-~information on complaints received by them regarding th~ activities- of the local Coast Guard Unit. He also asked for any suggestions that the Board could make for the better- ment of conditions here for that branch of the Service.
